If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them

The sacrament of Reconciliation is also called Penance, Confession and Conversion. It is through receipt of this sacrament that forgiveness for sins committed after baptism is obtained. Reconciliation requires detestation of the sin committed and a firm purpose of amendment.
The Sacramemt of Reconciliation consists of four acts. Three of these are performed by the penitent, they are repentance (sorrow for the sins) confession (admission of the sins) and the intention to complete whatever is required by means of satisfaction for the sins (penance). The fourth act is the absolution granted by the priest. The rite of confession can be found here
At Saint Williams, first Confessions are normally made in Y2 or Y3, prior to first Communion, and an appropriate preparation course is run in tandem with the preparation for first Communion. Confessions are heard between 12:30 and 1:00 on Saturdays every week, at occasional penitential services and by appointment with Fr Tolan.
