Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation into the Christian Church. It perfects the grace of Baptism and gives us the Holy Spirit so as to root us more deeply in our relationship with God as his Sons and Daughters. Confirmation is usually administered by a Bishop, showing that it unites those who receive it more closely with the Church. Like Baptism, Confirmation leaves an indelible mark on the soul. Therefore it can not be repeated or revoked.
In the Latin Church confirmation is normally conferred on those who have reached the age of reason. Candidates must profess the faith, be in a state of grace, intend to receive the sacrament and be prepared to take on the responsibilities of being a disciple of Christ.
At Saint William's a preparation course for confirmation is run biannually. It is aimed at children in the lower half of secondary education. More details of the course can be found here.
