St William's Bereavement Support Group was formed in 1998 to help the bereaved by offering home visits, help and support with practical matters. We recognise, from our own experience of loss, that a bereaved person can feel support from someone who is ready to listen. About two weeks after the funeral a card is sent offering sympathy and further support if the bereaved wish it. There is a special Mass in November to remember and give thanks for the lives of the deceased. The Group selects appropriate readings and music and invites the bereaved to place mementoes of their loved ones on or near the altar. They are offered 'leaves' on which they can write the names of the deceased. Tea/coffee and snacks are served in the Hall following the Mass. On the first anniversary they are sent a card with a simple message to show they are remembered at this special time.
